Israel’s Blitz Motors is to bring its range of e-mopeds to the UK with a view to supplanting the petrol-powered mopeds currently being used by many delivery riders.
Quite a few electric vehicle firms appear to be eyeing the delivery rider market at the minute. We recently reviewed the Eskuta SX250, an e-bike very obviously styled like a moped that is being marketed as a last-mile delivery vehicle.
HumanForest have also launched a London electric moped share scheme specifically for delivery riders, while Zoomo’s 45km/h “moped killer” e-bike also targets the same market.
“We see massive potential in the UK as it is a very delivery orientated market,” Blitz CEO and founder Raphael Moszynski told Zag Daily. “Some of the main brands we already work with are stationed here, with sites across the region.”
Those brands include Domino’s, McDonalds and Pizza Hut. Blitz reckon their e-mopeds are currently being used by more than 130,000 delivery riders worldwide.
As well as Israel, they have a presence in Belgium, France, South Africa, Singapore and the Netherlands. They’ll arrive in the UK via a new ‘operations hub’ in North London.
“In the UK many of our clients are still using petrol-powered mopeds for delivery so we can turn their fleets electric,” said Moszynski.
“We are not just a vehicle manufacturer. We are a one-stop-shop solution with our own fleet management software where we can see where the vehicle is being driven, detect accidents, report any misuse, so our customers can focus on their core business.”
The Blitz website currently lists two e-mopeds ‘for business’ – the 3,000W Blitz 3000 and the 6,000W Blitz 6000. (You can’t say their names aren’t easy to follow.)
The former is available with a top speed of either 45km/h or 90km/h for use with different licences.
