E-bike-share start-up HumanForest has launched the UK’s first electric moped share scheme. The initial trial, in London, comprises a fleet of 200 e-mopeds that are being made available specifically for delivery riders.
Founded in November 2019, HumanForest relaunched its e-bike-share scheme last year after previously halting an initial roll-out in September 2020 when a bike defect was uncovered.
Users reportedly covered almost 100,000 miles in the first month after the relaunch. Following several further rounds of funding the firm subsequently announced plans to expand the fleet with e-mopeds.
HumanForest’s e-mopeds are capable of speeds of up to 28mph. Users will have to be 21 or over and hold at least a provisional licence. They’ll also need to have completed compulsory basic training (CBT) if they don’t have a driving licence issued before February 1, 2001.

With dual batteries, the mopeds offer a 70-mile range. They also feature an integrated USB charging point, a phone holder, GPS tracking, an alarm system and 40L ‘Top Box’. Each e-moped comes with a helmet.
Users get five minutes of free riding per day, after which rides cost 20p per minute. It’s also possible to get ‘minute bundles’ which can bring the cost down to £1.50 per hour.
HumanForest’s website says users will also be charged 14p per kilometre.
Founder and CEO Agustin Guilisasti commented: “Becoming multi-modal with London’s first shared and truly green e-moped scheme gives Londoners another tool to reduce their carbon footprint and improve air quality.
“As petrol prices reach record-highs, this is a timely launch for businesses to embrace sustainable transport through a shared service with maximum flexibility. We are excited to welcome this new type of user into our community.”
