Honda's Motocompacto e-scooter is here, inspired by the automaker's Motocompo scooters from the '80s. The Motocompacto resembles an electric suitcase with its looks, weighs just over 18kg, and offers 12 miles of range.
Motocompacto may be heftier than more traditional-looking electric scooters, but not when compared to this similar-looking electric moped we covered a couple of years ago, or the Motocompo-inspired Felo M One we reported on in April.
When folded, the package measures 9.4cm wide, 53.6cm tall and 74.2cm long.

The vehicle offers a top speed of 24km/h and a peak power output of 490W. According to the brand the Motocompacto reaches its max speed in seven seconds.
Charging should only take 3.5 hours from a standard 110v outlet.
The Motocompacto features brown leather-coloured grips, a faux-leather-looking saddle and an integrated LED display and lights. There are two power levels, a speedometer, and battery indicators displayed on the screen, while Bluetooth connectivity allows you to sync with a phone app for further customisation. Honda says the side panels are "perfect space for decals, stickers, skins, and more, so you can stand out and make it yours".

Honda's original petrol-powered Motocompo scooters were sold in Japan in the early 1980s, and the new electrified version aims to pay homage to its predecessor. The Motocompacto is set to hit the stores in November 2023, and the price is to be $995 (£816).
