London fibre broadband firm Vorboss is to introduce the 'Vorspin' e-cargo bike, kitted out to splice fibre across the capital. The new vehicles are reportedly pedal and electric powered, can fit on pavements, and will have “all the tools and equipment needed” to connect customers to the Vorboss network.
The bike features a new pull-out workspace for technicians to carry out their work. The firm says it has gone from concept to operational in nine months, and the exterior custom design has now been patented.
The vehicle is said to be an adaptation of the e-bike design made popular by last-mile delivery companies. There will initially be 10 Vorspin bikes on the road, each covering a 100km area.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has set a target for London to be net zero carbon by 2030. Vorboss’ deployment is a way to help support this aim, as it says it is “on a mission” to make fibre installations more sustainable whilst speeding up the efficiency of its technicians.
The Mayor’s Accelerated Green pathway requires, amongst other things, a 27% reduction in car vehicle kilometres travelled by 2030.
Last year, Transport for London launched the capital’s first Cargo Bike Action Plan, working with boroughs, businesses and the freight and servicing industry to promote the growth of cargo and e-cargo bikes and help cut carbon emissions.
