British electric bike brand Gocycle, known for its super sleek G4 folding e-bike, has announced it will be expanding its range with an electric cargo bike in 2024, called the Gocycle Family Cargo. Alongside this, the brand has announced its “intention to expand entire product range and enter multiple new market segments in the coming years.” Exciting stuff.
So what do we know about the new e-cargo bike? Well, not a great deal. In fact, it’s all a bit hush hush and in pure PR cloak and dagger, we have several sneak-peek images that don’t exactly reveal a lot.
From what we can see, there will be Hex bolts, smooth lines and perhaps a black and a white option to choose from. We welcome your guesses until more is revealed in 2024.
Richard Thorpe, Gocycle’s founder and designer had this to say about the launch: “Today, we introduce the Gocycle Family Cargo – a complete lifestyle upgrade for parents, grandparents, kids, pet lovers and stuff haulers across the globe.
"When you see it, you’ll know it’s a Gocycle. We’re bringing Gocycle’s legendary class-leading, lightweight, seamless design, complete app/e-drive system integration and portability to the cargo bike market.”
From this, we’re guessing Gocycle’s famed monocoque chassis design and electronic gearbox may be part of the new cargo bike. Blending the idea of carrying kids, pets, and stuff suggests it may be more likely to be a front loading, box cargo bike, but we could be wrong.
"However, this isn't just another product launch; it's a remarkable milestone in our ongoing journey,” continued Thorpe. “In the years ahead, we’ll be expanding the G4 Gocycle range with additional new models across diverse market segments including both non-folding and non-electric.”
If that’s not enough to whet your appetite for Gocycle mania, then perhaps this YouTube video ‘previewing’ the Family Cargo bike will.
For those of us who want to see the full bike, we’ll have to wait until early 2024. If you are interested, you can register for “exclusive updates and priority order access at launch” on their website.
