We've rounded up the 10 best electric bikes that we've reviewed over the past year. The vast majority were reviewed here on ebiketips, but bikes that featured on our sister site road.cc were also eligible for inclusion and so road.cc is where you'll find the list.
We’ve reviewed dozens of e-bikes in the last 12 months, spanning electric road bikes, gravel bikes, commuter bikes, leisure bikes, cargo bikes and folders - pretty much everything really. (Regular readers will have spotted that we also review e-scooters and e-mopeds on ebiketips, but these vehicles weren't considered for these awards.)
As my colleague Mat notes in the main piece, one of the biggest challenges when it comes to buying an e-bike is that there are so many unfamiliar brands out there. That can be intimidating, but I think our list shows that it's worth being open minded (and reading some in-depth reviews). It's easy to be drawn towards the familiar when you're parting with significant cash, but often it's these newer names who are innovating or delivering well-thought-out bikes at the best prices.
At the same time, it's a very broad industry. We're seeing household names enter the electric bike market from all sorts of different directions. Well known road cycling and mountain biking names are clearly taking electric bikes more and more seriously, but we're also seeing hugely impressive new models from the likes of Yamaha.
The end result is there's plenty of competition - which should be good for consumers, provided they can find a way to navigate this sprawling world. If you're having difficulties with that, a rundown of the 10 best e-bikes reviewed in 2023 is surely a pretty decent place to start.
