Ever felt like your grandparent's mobility scooter needed that little extra oomph? Well a brand in the US has made just the thing. Dashmoto’s new product, designed in San Francisco, is a “high-performance seated scooter” of the electric variety.
This full carbon fibre beast has a top speed of 18mph in ‘sport’ mode, 8mph in ‘urban’ mode and 4mph in ‘walk’ mode. There is a reverse mode too, which can reach 4mph.
It also benefits from a folding frame to minimise the need for storage space.
The full specs haven’t been released just yet, as the vehicle is yet to go live on Indiegogo, but we do know there will be a 500W motor, dual disc brakes, a rear integrated light and an LED control unit on the bars.
Users can get a claimed range of up to 20 miles if they choose the “long-range battery.” The battery looks to be positioned under the seat, and is claimed to charge fully in four hours. Additionally, the vehicle will also utilise electronic hill hold technology, which we imagine works in a similar way to modern cars, holding you steady on hill starts.
After a quick scour of the brand’s social media, it looks like Dashmoto are positioning it as a vehicle you never need to get out of – in fact they suggest you can use it as other mobility scooters can be used – indoors.
Whether an e-mobility scooter needs to be high-performance, and able to travel at 18mph is another question entirely. It almost feels a bit Wall-E-esque.
The Dashmoto Seated Scooter will go live on Indiegogo on 16th January, and shipping will only be open to customers in the US.
