We were at The Cycle Show yesterday having a look round the shiny new things. There's lots of people innovating in the e-bike market at the moment: it's still fairly new technology, and at the moment the systems are coming on in leaps and bounds. We can't go to a show without seeing a bike with a motor we haven't seen before, and that was the case again: this time it was Bianchi, with the Polini motor on show aboard their e-allroad, a £4,000 road/gravel machine
The E-P3 motor from Polini is one that we've covered on ebiketips before: with the same claimed performance as the Shimano STEPS MTB motor but a weight of just 2.85kg, it looks like it should be a good addition to the market. The 500Wh battery is a bit lighter than some of its competitors too. The e-allroad will also be available as the e-road, in a more tarmac-oriented build. Both bikes should be available in the UK next year and will retail for £4,000.
