Ossa aren't the first company to move from motorbikes into bicycles: BSA from the UK and Italy's Benelli both spring to mind. Spain-based Ossa have been around since 1924 (with a bit of time out at the end of last century) and the Spinta e.CP20 is their first foray into e-bikes.
"With a design with modern, urban lines, it's a compact electric bike that's easy to ride", says Ossa. "A bike designed to make moving around the city quick and easy." The bike uses 20" wheels and has a very distinctive frame design without a seat tube. It's certainly striking, although you might need to cut down your seatpost if you're short and you don't want it sticking out of the bottom of the top tube.
The Spinta uses a rear hub motor, with 3 assist levels, and a singlespeed transmission. Ossa claims that it has a battery life of 50-60km and takes 2.5 to 5 hours to charge. You also get hydraulic disc brakes, mudguards, integrated lights and a kickstand.
The bike won't be available in bike shops, only directly from Ossa's website. We don't have any confirmation as yet as to whether it'll be available in the UK, or what the price would be if it is. We'll let you know when we do.
