After previously crowdfunding the D11 – which we reviewed here – Chinese budget e-bike brand Fiido has unveiled its latest offering, the Fiido X. Perhaps even more strikingly, the firm says it will also soon unveil its first e-scooter, which will feature a (surely unnecessarily) whopping 1,546Wh battery.
Fiido’s D11 is a well-executed folder with some neat features. It has its shortcomings (and our review model had a small fault) but we thought it a pretty solid package for a smidge over £800.
The Fiido X retains the same basic look, but with a few key improvements according to founder and CEO Keven Wang.
These include smoothing the welding joints, simplifying the bike’s wiring, adding an anti-theft function for the battery and upgrading the torque sensor to provide a better riding experience.
The end result features a magnesium alloy frame with a 418Wh seatpost integrated battery (or a 209Wh battery in the Fiido X Lite).
The bike’s priced at $1,999 with the promise of a discount to $1,099 via an upcoming Indiegogo campaign.
The launch video’s quite something.
The upcoming e-scooter’s an interesting one too, promising, as it does, “strong power like a beast.”
Fiido says it will feature front and rear suspension, two-wheel drive, and that faintly-unnerving battery capacity mentioned above.
