Endura has launched a new high protection helmet geared towards speed pedelec riders. The new helmet is designed to meet higher safety standards for impact protection and head coverage for those using e-bikes with a maximum speed of 28mph (45kph).
Speed pedelecs – or S-pedelecs – are legally classed as mopeds in the UK. This means riders need have to have a driving licence and the vehicle needs to registered, taxed and insured. (More on this here.)
The higher speed means there is also a separate safety standard for helmets. The straightforwardly-named Endura Speed Pedelec Helmet meets NTA-8766 S-EPAC certification as well as the CE standard EN 1078 certification that covers normal cycle helmets.
According to Endura, superior energy absorption is possible thanks to the combination of the helmet’s lightweight in-mould construction with extended skull coverage combined and an integrated Koroyd core.
The helmet also features a one-hand micro-adjustment fit system so that you can tweak it on the fly; fast-wicking fabric padding; and an adjustable visor to protect the cyclist’s eyes from wind, rain, dirt and insects.
The helmet is available in three sizes (S-M, M-L, L-XL) and two colours, grey and black.
It is priced at £159.99.
